Chocolate and Tea Chip Cookies

Submitted by: Sam Bowman

A more-or-less standard recipe made with bittersweet chocolate and toasted pieces of gunpowder tea.

Prep Time: About 20min to mix, 10 to bake.
Serving Size: about 40
Ingredients
  • 2 Large chocolate bars or 1.5 cups of bittersweet chocolate.
  • 3tsp unsweetened cocoa
  • 1tsp baking soda
  • 3/4c brown sugar
  • 1c butter (2 sticks) (soft or microwaved)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2tsp salt
  • 3/4c sugar
  • 2 1/4c flower
  • 2tsp vanilla
  • 1/2c chopped walnuts
  • Of course: 3tsp (about 1/3 sample tin) dry gunpowder tea
Directions
Set the oven to 375 and take out the butter and put on a cup of water to boil

Mix the flower, soda and salt in a medium bowl

Pour boiling water over the gunpowder in a bowl gradually until it has expanded fully.

Bake the tea briefly until dry on a small tray, lifting it from the water and spreading it out.

Mix the butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla and tea with a mixer until they are smooth, than gradually add the dry mixture, chocolate, cocoa and nuts.

Spoon into small cookies on two large trays and bake for 8-12 minutes.

Let cool.

Eat.
