Sweet & Smokey Baked Beans

Lapsang Souchong reminded me of a campfire with its smoky scent and flavor. It's a perfect addition to an American Bar-B-Q favorite, baked beans.

Serving Size: 2-4
Ingredients
  • 2/3 cup strongly brewed Lapsang Souchong Tea
  • 2 cans (15oz each) Great Northern or Navy Beans (rinsed)
  • 2/3 cup of ketchup
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 4 tbls honey
  • Bacon (optional)
  • Chives/onions (optional)
Directions
1) Rinse canned beans and place in a pot without any water.
2) Mix together the tea, ketchup, molasses, and honey in a small bowl.
3) Add sauce to the beans, stir and bring up to a boil.
4) Turn down stove and continue to boil for about 5 minutes.
5) Add bacon and/or chives/onion to taste (optional) and serve.
