Ingredients

  • 2 c. heavy cream or whipping cream
  • 1 c. milk (preferably whole)
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 tsp. chestnut tea leaves
  • 1/2 c. mini chocolate chips or chocolate chunks
  • 1/4 c. coarsely chopped chestnuts

Directions

Brew tea in water and steep 5 min. Strain and allow tea to cool.

In a mixing bowl whisk the 2 eggs for about 2 min. until light and fluffy. Gradually whisk in the sugar little by little. Mix in the cream, milk, and tea and blend well. Pour into an ice cream maker and churn as directed by your specific machine (probably around 30 min.). Add the chocolate chips and chopped chestnuts 5 min. before the churning is complete. Transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze overnight. To serve, you may garnish with more chopped nuts if desired.
