Honeybush Biscuits

The most delicious biscuits you'll ever try! Honeybush tea adds just the right amount of honey flavor. Prep time: 10 min. Cook time: 15 min.

  • 2 c. flour
  • 4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 tbsp. butter or olive oil spread
  • 1 tsp. honeybush tea leaves
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1/3 c. + 2 tbsp. buttermilk


Preheat oven 400°F.

Brew 1 tsp. tea in 1/2 c. water and let steep 5 min. Strain and allow to cool. Measure out 1/3 c. brewed tea.

Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together.

In medium bowl, cut up butter into small pieces. Cut in the butter.

Gradually mix in tea and buttermilk, careful not to over-mix it.

After a soft dough has formed, gently knead on a well floured surface.

Pat out with fingertips to about 1/2" thickness. Cut biscuit dough into round shapes or be creative and use a different shape cutter.

Optional: sprinkle top of biscuit prior to baking with some honeybush tea crumbs from brewing.

Bake 12-15 min. until the top is slightly golden.

Serve warm and enjoy with your favorite tea!
