Darjeeling Chai Oatmeal

Oatmeal cooked with Darjeeling tea and chai spices.

Serving Size: 3 servings
  • 3 tbsp. Darjeeling tea
  • 2 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 3/4 c. McCann's Steel Cut Quick and Easy Oats
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. sea salt
  • pinch ground cloves
  • 2 pieces whole star anise
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 c. honey (to taste)
  • milk for serving
Brew very strong Darjeeling tea with the tea and water. Steep 2-3 min.
Put 2 1/4 c. of the brewed tea in a saucepan, bring to boil, and add oatmeal and spices. Stir.
Cover and reduce heat to low. Cook stirring occasionally for 5-7 min. Add honey to taste.
Serve with milk.
