Koucha Shoyu Broth

Red Wolfe TeaChef Level 3

The easiest broth for soups, ramen, or a sick day when you need a quick, warm drink. It was discovered by accident at my job one day, and is surprisingly delicious. Makes one mug.

5 m 1

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tbsp masala chai
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1- 1/2 tsp ginger, to taste
  • about 1/2 tsp soy sauce powder (to taste)
  • about 1/4 tsp ginger sugar
  • 12 oz boiling water

Directions

In a mug, brew together pepper flakes, ginger, and masala chai. Steep for 5 minutes. Strain, and stir in sugar and soy sauce.

To prepare as a ramen, pour over a pack of instant ramen (make 2 or 3 mugs for this, depending on your bowl's size). Add toppings as desired. Goes really well with pork.
