Savory Tea Scones

This is a healthy recipe as olive oil substitutes for the usual butter, oatmeal gives a rustic texture, and pu'erh adds a subtle but earthy flavor. Prep time: 20 min. Cook time: 16-18 min.

  • 1 c. quick oats
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 heaping tbsp. pu'erh tea
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. olive oil
  • 2/3 c. buttermilk


In a 400°F oven, toast oats for 8-10 min. Mix thoroughly with all the other dry ingredients.

To the dry ingredients add the eggs, oil, and buttermilk. Stir until just moistened. Let stand for 5 min.

Pat the dough into 2 6" rounds, cut each round into 6 wedges. Brush the top with a little olive oil. Bake 16-18 min. at 400°.
