Bagman's Broth

Scotch broth with that little extra.

Prep Time: 2 hours
Serving Size: 3/4
  • 250g diced carrots
  • 250g diced turnips
  • 2 diced onions
  • 1 diced stick celery
  • 1 sliced leek white
  • 100g pearl barley
  • 125g dried peas (pre-soaked)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pints lamb / mutton stock
  • 10g tea (or 4 bags) to your own taste but something strong flavoured
Place stock and all but the tea into one large pan.

Simmer for approx. 2 hours until the peas are mushed and the barley is softened

Add the tea 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time.

Adjust seasoning to taste and serve.
