Strawberry Spice buns

Delicious little spiced buns, these are a great breakfast or side with tea.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup warm milk
  • 3 tsp honeybush hazelnut
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 pack yeast
  • 4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp cardamom, seeds
  • 1 egg
  • Strawberry jam (or jam of choice)

Directions

Warm the milk to just below boiling, then add the honeybush. Steep 5 minutes, then strain and let cool to lukewarm. Add it, butter, yeast, and sugar to a bowl and whisk to combine. Add flour, cardamom, and salt, then knead. Raise 1 hour. Punch down, divide into 1. Shape into rounds, cover and raise 30 more minutes. Make a dent with a shot glass, brush with egg, then fill the dent with jam. Bake at 400 for 12-16 minutes. Enjoy!
