Ham Steak with Tea Raisin Sauce

Ham with a unique sweet/hot tea sauce

  • 3/4 c. water
  • 2 tsp. Assam Melody tea leaves
  • 2 tbsp. raisins
  • 2 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Colman's mustard (a hot prepared mustard)
  • 1 ham steak
  • 2 tsp. butter


Brew tea in water and let steep for 10 min. Strain. Add the raisins to brewed tea and soak 15 min.

Sautee ham in butter until lightly browned. Keep warm.

Scrape the bottom of the skillet and add the tea and raisins. When tea is simmering, add the Colman's and sugar. Stir after each addition and stir constantly on a low flame. The sauce is done when the sugar is dissolved and liquid is slightly reduced.

Pour over ham steak and serve.
