Ingredients

  • 3+ c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. Adagio genmai cha leaves
  • 1 1/4 c. hot water
  • 4 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. quick oats
  • 2 tbsp. margarine
  • 1 packet quick rise yeast (about 2 tsp.)
  • butter and brown sugar to serve

Directions

Brew tea in water and let steep for 5 min. Strain.

Mix the warm tea with the sugar and yeast in a mixing bowl and stir. Let the mixture sit for a few min. until it looks foamy. Next, add oats, salt, and butter to the bowl and mix either with your mixer or by hand. Start adding the flour 1/2 c. at a time and keep kneading it until the dough is still pliable, but no longer sticky to the touch.

Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 min., then punch down and let rise again. Place it in a greased bread pan. Bake at 400°F degrees for 30 min. Remove from oven and let cool. Serve sliced into thick pieces with a brown sugar and butter spread.
