Monkey Chicken

My crock pot favorite with a "golden" twist.

  • 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. dried sage
  • 1 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 1 tsp. dry Golden Monkey tea
  • 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 (2-3 lb.) broiler/fryer chicken cut up
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 c. chicken broth


Brew tea in hot water. Steep 5 min. Strain.

Mix all of the dry ingredients and coat the chicken pieces with the mixture. In a pan, melt the butter and brown the chicken. Put the chicken in the crockpot, and add about 1/4 c. of flour seasoning mix to the liquid in the pan. Stir until well mixed and then add the broth and Golden Monkey Tea. Allow the sauce to boil for 1-2 min., then pour it over the chicken in the crock. Cook for 2 hours on high or 4 hours on low.
