Lapsang Souchong Barbecue Sauce

Tangy at first taste, but followed by a spicy aftertaste, this unique sauce works well as a barbecue/dipping sauce or marinade and will definitely be a conversation starter at your next dinner party. Prep time: 5 min. Cook time: 20-30 min.

Ingredients

  • 1 14-oz. can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 6-oz. can tomato paste
  • 6 oz. water
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 1/2 c. grape jelly
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp. low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tsp. chili powder
  • 3 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. onion powder
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 3 tbsp. lapsang souchong tea leaves

Directions

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Once the sauce is at a boil, put on low and allow to simmer about 20 min., stirring occasionally. If sauce is too thick, add water.
