Tangy at first taste, but followed by a spicy afterbite, this unique sauce works well as a barbeque/dipping sauce or a marinade and will definitely be a conversation starter at your next dinner party.

Prep Time: Preparation time: N/A
Cook Time: 20-30 minutes
Serving Size: varies
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes - do not drain
  • 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
  • 6 oz. water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. mustard
  • 1/2 cup grape jelly
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp. low-sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tsp. chili powder
  • 3 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. onion powder
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 3 tbsps. Lapsang Souchong tea leaves
Mix all ingredients together in a saucepan. Bring sauce to a boil, stirring constantly. Once the sauce is at a boil, put on low and allow it to simmer for about 20 minutes. Stir occassionally. If sauce is too thick, add water.
