- Ginger bug:
- 1 Tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- 3 Tablespoons water
- 3 1/2 cups watermelon cooler tea
- 4-6 Tablespoons sugar
- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup ginger bug
Start the ginger bug by mixing the sugar,ginger and water together,let sit overnight. The next day mix in 1 Tablespoon ginger,1 Tablespoon water and 1 teaspoon sugar,repeat every day until the mixture is bubbly. Once the ginger bug is active,you can store it in the fridge and feed once a week,bring to room temperature before using.
Once the ginger bug is active make the soda. Steep the tea as long as you want,strain and pour into a jar,stir in the rest of the soda ingredients, cover the jar with a cloth and let sit at room temperature for 3 days;stir once a day. Once bubbles start forming pour into swing top bottles or a clean plastic jug,let sit at room temperature for a few days until carbonation builds ups,once carbonated place in the fridge and serve chilled.
