Gunpowder Lentil Stew

The gunpowder tea gives this stew a subtle smoky flavor. Freezes well.

Prep Time: Prep time: 15 min. Cook time: 7-9 hours
Serving Size: serves 8
  • 2 tbsp. gunpowder tea, brewed
  • 1 pound lentils, washed
  • 3 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 carrots, cut into small pieces
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 ham bone or ham hock
  • Optional: diced cooked ham
  • water
Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker. Add enough water to cover. Cook 7-9 hours on low or until lentils are tender. Salt and pepper to taste. Stir well before serving.
